These Korean-style flanken ribs are a true flavor explosion, perfect for any occasion. Personally, we love this recipe when we're short on time. It takes a small amount of effort to marinate ahead of time but once that step is completed, this meal is so quick and easy to prepare in under 30 minutes. The sweet and savory flavors, combined with tender, juicy beef, creates a dish that’s hard to resist.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of beef short ribs
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and green onions to create the marinade.
Place the short ribs in a shallow dish or bag and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are fully coated.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, but preferably overnight.
Use the same marinade and sauté your veggies. First carrots until tender then add your broccoli and sauté until softened.
Cook your 1 cup of white jasmine rice in 2 cups of water. Bring water to a boil add your rice bring that to a boil and then turn heat on low for 15 mins covered at all times.
Preheat your flattop grill to medium-high heat. Remove the ribs from the marinade and shake off any excess. Season with salt and pepper. Grill the ribs for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired doneness.
Once cooked, remove the ribs from the grill and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Serve hot over a bed of rice and veggies. ENJOY!
